Desk Lamp 01

We wanted a task lamp with one moving part and no visible hardware. That meant designing the joint first and the lamp around it — twenty-three prototypes before the arm held its angle without a set screw.

Steel body, brass collar, a shade cut flat and rolled by hand. We production-tested the first batch of twelve ourselves, on our own desks, for two months, before we called it finished.

Small-batch, made in Cairo, one finish per run.
